Hrabstwo West Midlands jest hrabstwem metropolitarnym w zachodnio-centralnej Anglii z populacją około 2 600 000 mieszkańców. Zostało założone w roku 1974. Głównymi miastami wchodzącymi w skład hrabstwa są Birmingham, Coventry i Wolverhampton.
Zawiera także takie ważniejsze centra jak Sutton Coldfield, Solihull i miasta wchodzące w skład Black Country: Dudley, Walsall i West Bromwich.
Hrabstwo nie posiada rady hrabstwa, gdyż ta została zniesiona w roku 1986. Jednakże hrabstwo wciąż istnieje formalnie.
